We were asked to take part in a trial program this year to test using the EBT cards for folks receiving food stamps and other state aid. It would allow users of the card to shop at the farmers market.

I took a pass because originally you needed a hard-wired phone in order to participate and we don't have one. And given all of the other challenges we have, I didn't feel it was a priority.

I'd like to know if any of you provide your service at your market and if you do, what your experience has been. As the economy worsens, more and more people are going to need to take advantage of these programs. And people should be able to purchase wholesome food. But I also wonder about any potential overhead or hassles in running the program.

If any of you participate, I'd like to hear your views.
