I have a shady spot in my front yard I had thought of growing some elephant ears. Are they the same as in your article?
Are they invasive? I have heard that said of them.
Thank you,
Anita
Many of the "elephant ears" that people grow are in the genus Colocasia rather than Alocasia. Some of the Colocasia reproduce by underground runners or stems and can pop up in places where you didn't plant them or expect them to be.
I don't use the term "invasive" as it implies an intention that plants don't have; they just grow to fill a niche according to their natures. But if you want an EE plant that generally stays put where you plant it, Alocasia is the type to choose.
