They sent out emails when the marketplace was first launched--but I haven't received any since then.

And I think it was something that went out only to people who were already listed as vendors in Watchdog/Plant Scout, I don't think it went out to everyone.

That does make sense--to let the vendors know. Perhaps they felt it best not to send out to entire membership list as that might be misunderstood by some members that it was being pushed on them--sometimes the best of intentions can sometimes be misunderstood.

And for the vendors, it's a win-win to let them know about it--that way they have another outlet to sell their plants, and the marketplace gets kickstarted with some good vendors selling things. For the general membership it was announced on the home page, but I think you're right that if it was pushed more than that the people who have concerns about things getting too commercial might have been upset, so it doesn't really help to send the notice to everyone (not to mention the expense of putting the flyers together and sending them out to everyone)
