I think they are cute. They have faces. But, I'm glad I don't have to deal with them. I did see a hummingbird moth in my sisters garden last summer. She lives in a hotter area of Oregon than I do. It was fascinating to watch the moth flit from flower to flower. Are there perhaps 2 kinds of moths that do that? It was large and definitely pollinating with its long tongue. Doesn't seem like it had the yellow strips, though.

There are dozens of different sphinx/hummingbird moths... the link at the bottom with photos of all those different hornworms gives you an idea of the number of North American species, and only a couple of them are garden pests as far as I know. :-)
