I'm not too sure how this works or if I'm allowed to just initiate something, but, what the he__? If not, I'm sure someone will let me know.

These swaps all seem to be North American (although I may have missed something) so I thought a Euro Swap might be of interest to DG Members in Europe.

So, this is the sign-up list for the Euro 2008 Perennial Swap.

With the finals of Euro 2008 on Sunday, that's a good kick-off date.

The idea is a trade of perennial plants (plants, divisions or seeds) that are native to at least one of the Euro 2008 countries

Exercise your creativity. But, be fair: don't swap species or cultivars of plants that emerged/were developed elsewhere. This might require some research (I know I'll need to do some to be fair!). You can swap purchased plants or seeds, but ones from your own gardens or those of friends will be most appreciated. If you buy plants/seeds, the limit should be Euros 10.00. Keep in mind that you'll need to package and MAIL your swap!

Names will be exchanged on July 14th (Bastille Day!, as I am in France) and the proposed date for mailing will be by July 31st.

I know this is a hard time of year for gardeners all across the temperate zones, and we may have terrible heat, but maybe we can try this and see if Euros swaps will work.

    Why not?

If it works, maybe we can do more.

I think there are a lot of Euro DG Members who would like to be more involved in the community.
