I posted several items for sale indicating I would combine orders to save on shipping. Now I have two "requests for information" on shipping costs from the same person. There does not seem to be an option for shipping multiple items to one address - or am I missing something here? Is there a place where one could leave a message to the effect that it will be less expensive to combine the items for shipping?

For the time being, you'll have to "manually" combine the invoice and give the discount yourself. What I did was to charge total shipping for one of the items and none on the rest. I dmailed the person letting them know the total amount to be paid. Until Dave gets this worked out, it's the only way I know of to actually combine the shipping charges into one invoice so you don't get "fee'd" to death with paypal.

I need help, too, please.
I sent out multiple items to 3 different people and combined (by dmailing them) the shipping. What I don't understand is that I guessed right on two of them (only lost 1.00). The third package had only 3 plants in it so I charged 8.00 total and the actual shipping came to 10.40. How are people figuring all this out on what to charge??????
PS> The package with 5 plants in it only costs 9.40 while the one with only 3 cost 10.40

Gessie,

The USPS offers several "Flat Rate" Boxes for "X" shipping cost. You need to check into using those for your shipping needs. Sometimes it's better to use them, like on heavy items. But on lightweight items, it's better to use the regular box.

The shipping charges are not about the number of plants. It's the weight and destination. UNLESS you use those flat rate boxes. Then it's the same price regardless of where or how heavy. As long as your plants will fit into the box, it's one price.

Thanks, but I am sending streptocarpus, houseplants and african violets. They can't be crammed into those flat rate boxes. I will just have to figure out about shipping to different zones. Does anyone know where the site is for that calculation?
Thanks again

There are several different sizes of the boxes Gessie. Some are almost as big as a shoe box.

Here is the link to the USPS site to calculate your postage.

It's a very small percentage. Dave will invoice you when the amount reaches $5.00.

You are quite welcome.

Have you read the tutorial on how to use the Marketplace? http://davesgarden.com/products/market/sell/tutorial/

There is a wealth of information there.

Oh, this is so hard to admit, Janet. As I get older I retain less and less. I read the tutorial and don't remember a thing I read...will go back and reread...

That would be an excellent link to bookmark Gail. That way you could refer back to it anytime you had any questions.
