Definitely! There are plenty of people that grow them in southeast Texas (where I'm from) and do well with them.
If you can find a dappled sun area or a place where the clematis could have its roots shaded (maybe growing up a trellis behind a bush) I think you would have plenty of success with them. I know I have way cooler summer weather than you here in Colorado, but I just had a clematis survive 2 full weeks in full sun with no water (DH forgot about it while I was out of town). I'd say they are pretty tough. There are plenty of sources for them online, relatively cheap if you wanted to give it a shot.
