This is my vent. Last weekend my daughter was working the smaller of the two markets we do. She had zucchini and yellow squash that she was selling for $1.50 a pound. The local groceries are selling it for $1.59. The vendor across from us was selling squash for $1.00 per pound. My daughter wandered over and remarked to the lady, that we were selling for $1.50 and she was maybe selling too low. The woman remarked that they(the customers) won't pay that much for it and kept her price at $1.00. Now we sold ours for $1.50 and sold out but this woman is one that always gripes about how the customers of this market won't pay what things are worth and that they're cheap. My feeling is that as long as she chooses to sell at flea market prices the customers will continue to expect vendors to "give it away." It's so funny, last year this woman and her husband got crossways with another vendor because he was undercutting the rest of the market on his prices because he said he didn't want to take it home. Looks like it's ok as long as she's doing the undercutting.
Am I the one that's looking at it from the wrong perspective?
