I read somewhere that when an orchid stops blooming, if you cut the bloom spike down almost to the leaves, but leave a few inches, it will sometimes send up a new spike and go for a second round of flowers. Is this true, and if so, what exactly do you do - meaning how far down should I cut the spike off? This is a phal, not sure of the exact name, the flowers are white with thin magenta "stripes" I have had it a few years, and it has finally decided to bloom again, the plant is healthy, the flowers were gorgeous, I would just love to get more flowers if possible.
Thanks!
