Looking for help identifying a tree & flower in my yard. Pictures & descriptions are here;
[HYPERLINK@lucidflora.blogspot.com]
I live in SE Louisiana, north of Lake Pontchartrain. Thanks in advance!
Your tree looks like my Sweet Bay magnolia (Laurus nobilis) which would be evergreen in your part of the country. Your flower looks just like my rudbeckia Indian Summer.
I think you've got the Latin name mixed up...Laurus nobilis is just plain sweet bay and doesn't have flowers like that. Sweet bay magnolia is Magnolia virginiana and it does have flowers like this one [HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com]
Actually, I don't have it mixed up--whoever printed the little card that came on my tree did that. Guess that's kind of like them mislabeling plants, lol. Thanks for clearing that up ecrane.
