A little history: Our realtor forwarded an email from the selling realtor that said in part that the house had "many" bids on it. We had put in a bid on this house, and offered 6 thousand more than asking price, offered 20% down, and to pay closing costs. (Our realtor knew we would go no higher).
A couple days after the bid, we got another forwarded email from our realtor that originally came from the selling realtor, that said "we are asking for highest and best offers".
I guess my question is, is this a legal thing to do? To solicit us? I know the selling realtor knows who the highest bidder is, but we don't. For all we know, we could be the highest bidder, and for only fear of losing a bid (due to an email) we bid unnecessarily 5 thousand more. I know that there are head games that sometimes go into selling a house, but this just seems like it could have been kept between realtors maybe?
This is our 1st time moving really, and it sure is a learning experience. Any advice would sure be appreciated.
