I have just spent the last two hours looking for mulch information. I like the idea of newspapers first with a layer of grass clippings on top. But I have a couple of questions.
Can all parts of the newspaper be used, i.e., colored ads, shiny paper or just the black and white printed pages? How long after treating a lawn with insectiside (sp?) do I have to wait to use the clippings on flower beds?
Thanks for any help with this. Oh I live in zone 4 although it's probably a border zone 5.
I've never used newspaper, so I can't be of any help, but I would think that the glossy paper wouldn't be a good idea as it may take too long to break down.
If no one responds to this, try posting the question in the Soil and Composting forum...someone over there will probably have an anwer.
Thanks for the advice. I was also surprised by the lack of responses but maybe it is the wrong forum. I'm new to this and did not pay too much attention to "where" I was at when I sent the question.
Is there a way to move the original post or do I have to rekey?
You could contact admins and have it moved, but since there hasn't really been much discussion yet it's probably easier if you just go over there and start a new thread.
