This is my first year growing the malabar spinach plants. I don't know if it volunteers to come back each year or not. Someone told me to collect the seeds to have to plant the next year. Does anyone know how soon should I collect the seeds off the plants? Do I need to dry out the seeds? Any suggestions will be appreciated. I use the leaves in salads. Tasty. Thanks
In my garden, zone 7b, the fallen seeds survive dormancy over winter outdoor. Though, I do collect additional seeds to share with other friends/family. Yes, one need to clean off the fleshy purple pulps then store the dried seeds in paper bag/evelope. for spring sowing if the weather is colder. Storage temp; room temp. or refridgeration is optional.
