I have a few vining tropicals that I need to move into my little hobby greenhouse because they need more space to vine. I had originally moved almost everything out of the greenhouse since I was using it during the colder months for overwintering potted plants, seed starting and propagation. I had a real problem with aphids while I had the plants in the greenhouse. I used yellow sticky traps everywhere (which the aphids weren't really attracted to) and had to literally wash off the aphids with insecticidal soap every other day (a very laborious process). Now that I'm considering moving plants back in during the summer, I'm concerned about resurrecting the aphid problem. Do residual aphids go dormant? Should I consider using a pyrethrum-based bug bomb (Doctor Doom) before moving any plants back in? Admittedly, I won't have as much time to patrol greenhouse aphids now that the growing season is here. Any suggestions? Is there a better product to use since I'll probably encounter some spider mites in the summer greenhouse as well?
