Article: The History and Uses of Winter Squash: What is this Vine?

I have been known to throw out vegie scrapes to the deer when we leave. I found this growing. What is it? The white blooms open in the cool eve. then close up and wither away the next day then there is a bulbuios fruit left over shaped like an 8 or a gourd. Squash have yellow flowers, gourds have white ones.
