If you read this and have surplus wool or acrylic yarn to spare,we would greatly appreciate your donation. You may have heard about the Afghans for Afghans project. It is a people to people effort to alleviate the effects of the extremely harsh winter conditions for the children of Afghanistan.
During war it is the most innocent that bear much of the suffering.
A group of our local women are knitting and crocheting clothing and afghans which are sent over to Afghanistan. So far we have sent three shipments., totaling about 15 blankets and various hats.
The doctors and church groups in Afghanistan request that all items be wool or wool blend in dark colors.(white and pastels do not stand up well in their spartan living conditions).
We mix colors in the afghans and clothing, so we would be happy to receive small amounts of wool or acrylic yarns.
In addition to the Afghanistan project, we are making lap robes and 12in square afghans for the fire victims and the wounded Service men and women in our local Balboa Hospital, using acrylic yarn.
We call ourselves "The Stitch Chicks" Most of us are new to needle crafts, but the getting together with great women and the labor of love makes it alot of fun.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
