I grow Forest Pansy in my houston (richmond) home and reg. redbud and whitebuds in my home in Freestone Co. Everybody talks about seedlings, I never have any and wouldn't mind at all having a grove of redbuds.
April, I love that story about Judas/weak limbs. That is definily a problem with redbuds. Do you have a source for whitebuds? I have relatives in B/ville and would love to get some next time I visit. They're not easy to get in houston, I always get blank stares when I ask for "whitebuds"
They are beautiful trees, but I consider them fussy too. Rather slow growers, I've lost a few to transplanting and to overwatering.
thanks for a great article
PS: have never seen a red and have never seen a weeping one
I've noticed the White Redbuds have been popular in the big box stores these last few years; I don't know if it is only around here. I saw a few on sites on the web a few weeks ago, but lost track. Maybe some of our DG friends in Texas will chime in and tell us if they have seen any Whitebuds for sale near you.
I've lost a few, too.
So welcome; thanks for reading it and for commenting. Reading all the comments is greatly enjoyable.
