It's been too long since I took math. How do you figure out the area of a plot, like 35"x25". I can do it the hard way but it would be far easier if I could do it with math.

You multiply 35 times 25 and that gives you the area in square feet. I'm assuming you meant 35' x 25' (feet) rather than 35" x 25" (inches)

no in this case it is inches. Herb garden. I end up with 875 that just doesn't seem right, more like 175.

Oh, OK, I figured it was a garden bed, and it's so easy to get the " and ' for inches and feet mixed up. You're correct, it's 875 square inches. 175 square inches would be an area 17.5" x 10", your area is much bigger than that.

You're right.. 875 square inches. That's 6.08 square feet.

I'm trying to figure out the area I have in my two beds so I can figure out how many of the plants I want I can put in there.

No, 875 is right. That's your # of square inches.

Ok I guess your right, and if I'd realized that I was doing in right from the beginning I probably wouldn't have a headache now. I'm tired and trying to plan out my garden, probably a bad combo.

it's about 6 sq. ft. not 52. About 2 ft. x about 3 ft. = about 6 ft. (or divide your 875 sq. inches by 144 square inches per square foot)

That was just one part. Here is the diagram, the small strip on the side isn't included in this calculation.
