I shot this in St Paul in a neighbors flower garden. I have no idea what it is so I called it cotton candy. I don't know anything about it. I thought it had an unusual rare beauty.

It appears to be the flowers of an astilbe, with possibly the leaves of a lilac also showing in the photo. (I also considered filipendula for the flowers, but I think it's astilbe).

If the leaves look like ferns, would go with astilbe, if they don't would look up the other suggested.

Astilbe. You can see a bit of the foliage through the flowers.

Strange thing is the original flower was flat like a fan and all the pictures of Astilbe I have seen were of a more conical shape or clump This leads me to believe the mystery is not yet solved I shall try to find it one more time and take more Photos.

If you think the ID is inconclusive, you could post a picture of the plant itself, clearly showing the foliage.

It might be Astible 'Ostrich Plume' which often has arching flower heads rather than the pyramidal shaped flower heads typical of Astibles.

When was the picture taken? My astilbe is in bloom now, has been for about a week or so. I'm only an hour from the Cities, so they should bloom about the same time if it's an astilbe...
