For at least the third year in a row, hummers have build their nest on a low-hanging maple bough, right over the driveway. Before then, I didn't notice. Three years ago, I was getting into my truck when I heard the "hum". I froze and soon detected one of the adults buzzing around a bough. Watching, I saw it land on the nest. Now, I listen each May for the "hum" and easily find the new nest. It's been easy to keep track of the babies, from eggs to fledglings. My son took this photo about two days before this year's brood left the nest. We now see them at the feeders, a little unsteady as they learn to fly better. What a hoot.
