I don't want to double post so here is what I'm working on http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/877525/

The basics are that I want to make a cover, that isn't attached, for an aquarium that I can plant small plants in or on. It was suggested that I use Hypertufa.

I read the Hypertufa Basics, but I need more basic than that, or at least had questions I couldn’t answer from there. I looked at several of the threads and I think the “rocks” would work well. Something like this http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=920899

I want to be able to sculpt it like clay, I know I have the skill to do that, but, it is fairly big, the aquarium is 37”x15.5”x 17.5” and I want a slope from the ground to the top, higher in one part. I attached the basic concept blueprint, though it has changed a bit.

It needs to be able to be put it over the aquarium, have a 37”x15.5”x 17.5” plus more in one section hollow, and I think it needs to be free standing, at least in the end. So, do I use clay like or lightweight? Is the lightweight still moldable? Do I need to fill the large sections in with some type a frame? What is the full recipe for what I need to use? How do I make it look like a rock?

I’m sure I’ll have other questions as I get answers to these, but this is a start.

TIA Laura
