How do we leave feedback for purchases made on either Marketplace or purchasing from "View sellers other items?"

Jnette ~ on the item you purchased ~above the view other items, click on read feedback. At the top of the sellers feedback page, it asks if you want to add your own feedback. Its' not for that specific item but rather a generic feedback. You also can't add more than one feedback even if you purchased multiple items.

You can also access this by clicking on the sellers name and look for the view feedback item.

If they are a commercial vendors--and you will know this because they will mention a website on their ads--its really best to give them feedback in the GardenWatchDog, it will help them more there.

If they aren't commercial vendors, the feedback through their membership page is best

now this is my opinion--and I have made a lot of sales on the MarketPlace

I don't know if Dave has a specific thought on this, but I would probably use the regular member feedback system for marketplace sales even if it's a vendor who's in Watchdog. When you click on the "view feedback" link on a seller's listing, it takes you to the regular feedback page, so that's where people are going to go to find out whether a marketplace seller is good or not. Some people might realize that the seller is a vendor and check the WD rating before buying, but a lot of people especially newbies won't realize that so their only source of info will be the feedback page that opens when they click that link, so if everyone's been leaving their feedback in Watchdog instead they won't have anything to go off of when making a decision whether to order or not. Ideally for vendors there'll eventually be a way to combine marketplace & watchdog so that all their feedback is in one place and they get full credit for all their good sales.

LOL, Thanks gone2seed. I was thinking the same thing while reading this. I tend to only think of Watchdog when I want to buy from a vendor I am not familiar with. But I would think that is very important to a vendor.

Personally, my feelings are that newbies to Dave's aren't as computer illiterate as many people here assume they are--anyone under 40 isn't, in my opinion. They understand that links are taking them offsite and that a person is a pro vendor. Let's face it, Dave's is not a complicated site to understand (and that's a credit to layout and function). Same as with lots of NPB problems--funny how they contact you within an hour of you canceling an order after not contacting you for weeks. I think its usually more of a matter of them not dealing with something (for probably a variety of very valid reasons) rather than non-understanding.

this is my opinion

It's not really a question of being computer literate or not, it's a matter of not knowing everything that's here on Dave's. If people discovered DG because of the marketplace they may not be aware at all about the Garden Watchdog (I can't count the number of times I've seen newbies post in the forums asking for opinions of mail order nurseries and they never knew the WD existed until someone here tells them about it). So if someone's not familiar with the site yet, regardless of whether they realize the person's a vendor or not, they're going to click on the link that says feedback which takes you to the personal feedback page, and they won't know that there's somewhere else you should look so if they see no feedback on the personal page, they may decide not to buy. So I would still advocate that people leave feedback on the personal feedback page, then if you know it's a vendor and know they're in WD then put it there too if you want.

As a buyer and fairly new, why not add a feedback note on your sale item. I don't know who is a vendor unless it's obvious by their name.
I play with the different menus to see where different topics are at. Not everyone will do that. They want a quick click or forget it. I have a fiend like that. Feedback is important to me, so I leave it the day the item is received. It is good reference for me to see the feedback, especially on a costly item, to know if it is quality merchandise.
I don't buy common plants on the internet as it is cheaper to buy locally and I can see what I'm buying and pick what I want. This time of year, there are a lot of clearance sales at the nurseries, considering it end of season in central Alabama.
I really like the market place and plan on continueing to check it a couple times a day.

Well Lynn, if you don't buy on Marketplace what do you look at? Seeds, live plants, etc?? Or tropicals? What is "other than common place"? Houseplants? I would have thought in Alabama you could grow just about anything. i.e. Anything would be common place. You must be a pretty high hardiness zone aren't you? You are seeing how naive a northerner, and northwesterner, at that, is. LOL Or is it the heat?

I do buy on the marketplace!! Total of 6 now. I do not buy seeds unless for a friend that loves growing from seed. I don't have the patience nor time.
I usually buy plants, usually a variety I haven't seen here in my zone 8 area. I like brugmansia but around here they carry pretty much the same varieties. Gone2seed had some I don't have so bought them. Buried Treasure I have bought from several times and Chris has some gorgeous cajun hibiscus for sale so I snatched up some of them.
No, not everything grows in my part of Alabama. We do get freezes and rarely snow. It also is hot and humid which a lot of plants do not survive. I love tropicals but it gets too cold in the winter for them to survive. I'm too old now to haul plants in and out for the seasons. I do have some sub tropicals like banana trees, alocasia and colocasia. Just a little of this and a little of that :O)
