This plant takes over our entire vegtable garden every summer. After the garden was tilled I used Weed and Feed, Preem and put down wheat straw. Within a week this plant has covered our garden. I have searched the web for days trying to identify what this is. I've looked under weeds, wild herbs, wild flowers...No luck! The plant just sprounts up everywhere. The leaves are darkgreen and have tiny white flowers with 4 or 5 petals with a yellow center. Any ideas of what this is and how to get rid of it would be great! My garden is in the state of Kentucky.
I also think Galinsoga parviflora. They like the same conditions as vegetables to grow in. But they are easy to pull out.
English name is Gallant Soldier, probably not a suitable name in your case.
Galinsoga parviflora, That's the weed! Also called Gallant Soldier or Quick weed.
I find it strange that of the many weed identification sites I visited this particular weed is not listed. It has covered my vegtable garden. It does pull up after a good rain, roots and all. Within days the garden is covered again. Pulling these weeds is backbreaking and very time consuming. I think I'm done with that. It has to be done daily to keep up with it. If you miss a couple days you have your work cut out for the next few days. After I totally pulled all of these weeds I covered the ground with Weed and Feed, Garden Preem and layed down Wheat Straw, the type of straw that doesn't have seeds. This had no effect on the weeds shooting right back up everywhere. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Have you tried heating the soil. Water the soil then put down clear plastic. Make sure the edges are help down and let the sun heat up the soil. I think my dad did it for a week. Or you can put down black plastic and just cut holes for the veggies.
