I got a tiny one at the Phila. Flower Show this March. It is outside now, in a larger pot and recently sent up a new leaf. I am hoping it will be as happy when it comes in for the winter.
I brought my Polly inside for the winter and it still died back...but not to worry...it is doing very well this summer and has even given me a new pup. I hope you have better inside luck with yours comp.
Alocasia 'Polly' is a selected clone of the hybrid Alocasia x amazonica. The parentage of this hybrid included A. sanderiana, which has much the same cultural requirements as Polly. See my article on A. sanderiana for more info (link below). http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/1111/
Even though the flower show was in early March, I still have not gotten around to looking up cultural info! You know how it is. The vendor was very vague, and said only that it needed light, no sun and don't let it dry out. So that is what I have been doing.
