I just re-did my guest room so I ran to TJ Maxx for a cheap set of sheets. It said "Egyptian cotton" on the package so I bought them. They felt very soft in the package, but after washing felt like sandpaper!!! I was horrified! Then I remembered my grandmother "slaving" over an ironing board, ironing her linen sheets!
I bought some Niagra sizing (NOT starch) and ironed them. (Yes, I know what you're thinking...you don't have time for this! However, I did it SEATED while watching TV. I actually didn't mind it at all; time flew while I watched my favorite show!)
Bottom line (yes, apparently it was soft on their bottoms!!!): The two ladies who shared the queen-sized bed raved over how soft the sheets were! So...I washed the sheets this morning, and I'm now ironing them again before putting them back on the bed.
Is "mangle" a table presser? I had a friend while growing up who had 6 brothers...imagine all the blue jeans in those days of no dryers. The mom had one and would press the jeans after they came off the clothes line! I thought it would be such fun! :-) She never did let me try it, however, as she was afraid I'd mangle my arms. Is that where "mangle" came from??? haha
It's about the size of the small ironing boards & it presses down on both sides. If you ever see one at a garage sale or somewhere buy it! They are great for table cloths. Hotels have huge ones for sheets & table cloths. Would love one!! The industrial ones have rollers & yes, they would mangle an arm!!! I like to iron my pillow cases. It is a tiny splurge!
