I had some friends over this weekend and somehow we got into a discussion about my opuntia. If you recall, with the help of Xenomorph, it was determined that the one I have is macrorhiza since the flowers have red throats
Plain Yellow = Opuntia humifusa
Yellow with red base/throats = Opuntia macrorhiza
This friend told me she has a lot of prickly pear with solid yellow flowers in her yard that she is trying to get rid of. Not too long ago she bought the house and the seller has promised to come remove it for her. I told her I wouldn't mind having a few pads, and VOILA! Get a load of what she gave me!
