After a late start here in zone 5b (Black Hills, SD) things are coming along. May was "wettest" month - ever - which fed into early June, following seven years of drougth. Consequently did not get started putting in plants until June 10. Project consists of three varieties of tomatoes (6 plants), two of peppers, Patty Pan squash*, cucumbers, carrots* and Brussel Sprouts*. Also included are onions* and shallots* - not in pictures.

Earlier planting of spinach and snap peas was taken out totally by a 2:00 AM hailstorm the first week of June, which meant replanting would have been too late.

Pots are 16" diam. set on overturned five gallon pickle buckets (from a local deli @ $1.00 each) raises the plants to a comfortable working height for an old poop like me. Also keeps the plants from rabbits. Weather here, influenced by the Black Hills and 3600 ft. altitude, can be 90°+ daytime temps and overnites of mid to low 50's. Does slow some growth down.

Peppers are hidden by rather rambunctious cucumber plants...were supposed to be suitable for patio or container gardening...HA!! got that wrong.

Items with * are experimental for me this year. Since it appears can only enter one picture will have to repost for second one.
