I am not liking the look of the young leaves on my Omurayama. I cut off the tip of a branch and see no vascular signs of verticillium, and this area is pretty much the mythical 'moist with good drainage' with excellent winter protection and no startling mid-day sun. The leaves looked fine day before yesterday, and just now I noticed this crispy, curled effect. I didn't have this issue last year. The leaves affected are one to three nodes from the growing tips.
Should I be pruning? Drenching? I see no bugs to spray off, although I do have an Acer pseudoplatanus 'Brilliantissimum' that is adored by any potato leafhopper in the vicinity .
