Does anyone still use pencils - the old yellow #2's?
Are any of you, like me, collectors and hoarders of every pencil that has come your way?
Have you discovered that age does terrible things to the erasers??
Today, I tapped into one of the hoards and found that the erasers were hard as brick - or so it seemed.
Well, first I sharped several of the pencils in my handy battery operated pencil sharpener.
THEN, for the first time in my life, I "gently" sharpened the erasers IN the pencil sharpener - which removed the bricked up siding. I used an Exacto to slab off the hardened top. Voila - I had a sharp pencil with a working eraser!!! One could also use sandpaper or even an emery board to get that hardened layer off the eraser.
Until now, I just never bothered!!! Such discoveries are wonderful affirmations!
