Thank you so very much for your touching, poignant story. I'm happy to know that you have become a lover of plants and gardening. I live in the fog belt of San Francisco, and nevertheless, some of my plants from Country High Gardens are thriving. Especially the gaillardia my Texan husband is crazy about, remembering them growing wild on the Texas prairie when he was a child. Now we are trying another Texas plant, the beautiful callirhoe winecup. Wish me luck!

Oh, good luck, good luck! I'm trying again with one of the Agastaches (can't remember which) and their perennial diascia from South Africa, which is iffy in my zone anyway.

I'm glad you enjoyed my story, and thanks for writing!
