| Perhaps the dirt goes to the same place as the missing socks. It happens in my yard, too. It should sit several feet higher than the neighbors as I lug in bags of leaves and grass and anything else I can to compost and add to my gardens, yet we, too, are lower and the fence posts stick part-way out of the ground. Hmmmm |

| I enjoyed reading the article... I know my holes always have to be backfilled with dirt from other areas because I am always pulling rocks out... but the sock comment made me laugh |

| fun read--Some goes down my shower drain and laundry drain but not THAT much!
So right, all the bags of amendments and pots of soil in plants--it just doesn't compute |

| Do you have wind? I've decided that's my problem. I disturb the dirt, then the wind takes it next door. I've always wondered why it never blows back though.
Great article, Palmbob! I loved it. :-) |

| I don't know any more than anyone else about the dirt. But about those socks... you know how you end up with about 6 single socks that are all different colors? Well, there is a place in New York where you can send the 6 mismatched socks, and they will send back 3 pairs of matched socks. It's called the New York Sock Exchange, and I have the address ... somewhere .. uh... I'll get back to you. |

| I just noticed something...my down hill neighbors have a flower bed with great dirt by the fence line and they NEVER do anything to the dirt. I'll just bet that is really MY dirt, washed there by the rain and caught behind their retaining wall. |

| Cathy, we're on a hill too, but in both directions, and we get lawn-be-perfect washing downhill onto our dirt (what's left of it, ha ha) and then sand washing out from under the path onto a flower bed. Rain, rain, fall straight down, without sideways gravity having an effect! |

| ROFLOL @ Karlae's "New York Sock Exchange"!!! I love it!
I know for a fact that the dirt I dig from this hill is at the bottom of the neighbor's pond down the hill. Every time I plant something, his water level rises. Do you suppose I should ask for it back? Fish poop is excellent fertilizer... |
