I finally got a new rotary tool! The one DH got me for xmas kinda . . . pooped . . . out about 2 months ago, so I have been looking for a new one. Wanted the dremel stylus, but could never save the $$ (something ALWAYS came up!). I was looking at a Black & Decker (at work, they have a points program . . . ), but I was 180 point short . . . (I'm not the type to kiss butt to get extra points!) . . .

But . . . last week a new rotary tool was added to the points catalog . . . and I had the points for it! It's a Chicago Tools rotary. I've read the reviews, and checked with my father - it's is supposed to be a decent one . . . so I ordered it, and it got here today!

Now, I'm off to play with settings, so I can finish the project that's been sitting on a shelf for months!!! I can't wait to show you guys!!!

Chicago tools are good. I have the B&D and I like it. Take work-in-progress pictures!

I took pictures of it the other night . . . to show where it was at prior to the walmart one conking out . . . I tried working on it last night, but my heart just wasn't in it . . .

I'm glad the Chicago brand is good . . . my father says the same thing, brigidlily. It's a little bigger than the one I had, so it is going to take some getting used to. On the lowest setting, it was faster than the old one! I'm trying to figure out a way to hold it, while I work on my project . . . hopefully, any gashes I put into it can be covered!!! ^_^

If you put a wire brush on it, don't accidentally let it hit your leg for a second. Trust me on that one. I think that's a permanent scar.

Ok, so I'm a slacker when it comes to posting pictures on this forum . . . I am just so depressed on how my vines did this year.

This has actually be done for a month or so . . .

Oh, Sy, it's just gorgeous! I LOVE leaves. Does the gourd "open" or did you leave it whole? I didn't see a cut through it.

Can't wait to see your project finished. I'm a newbie to this forum, and to growing and decorating gourds, but I'm assuming you're doing some gourd art?? I've just started trying my hand at painting on gourds. LOL, I even have to use a pattern, but then my instincts take over and the finished product hardly resembles the pattern! Here's one I've recently done. My pattern was a silhouette in black! See what I mean?

PS...Now I see the lovely work you do on gourds! I love the leaves, too!!

Thank you very much brigidlily. I'm glad you like the blue hummingbird gourd. Here's another one I did recently called Autumn Leaves.

Thanks Jo,

I need encouragement because I'm overly critical of my painting. I appreciate your comments. ;o)
