Is this fruit/seed pod ripe?I have heard that when they turn red they are ready. This is my first Epi cross so pointers on seed sowing would also be appreciated. The cross is
Crenatum var.Chichicastenago x Showboat
Very Cool! I don't know much about Epi's or their seeds/fruit. I have a couple of small plants received as cuttings a year or so ago in trades but no blooms yet.
I just googled: when are epiphyllum seed pods ripe?" and found this: http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/houseplt/gal1201485811372.html The photo of her seed pod looks just like yours in size and color and someone told her it is ripe if it gives to the touch ... I guess give it a little bit of a squeeze and see if it's kinda soft?
How exciting it will be sowing the seeds and waiting to see what you get! Good luck and please keep us posted!
Thanks for the link. That had a lot of info.I will go the tomato seed route.
