I remember picking many buckets of chokecherrys in N. MN as a boy. The jellys and jams that everyone made were wonderful - especially on some fresh homemade bread straight from the oven. Never heard of the ckokecherry vinegar, though.

You mentioned the deer-flys - always hated them, but dreaded the horse-flys even more, I think they renamed them to black-flys.
