I'm assuming it is a male bee because when I saw it he was buzzing around a certain area and was "butting" other bees off the flowers. I couldn't get a good picture of it because it never landed and was too fast for me to focus, so hopefully the attached picture will be enough :)

Perhaps Anthidium?
