Smomeone sent me seeds in a swap for Penstemon which I wintersowed and they bloomed nicely on my patio. I almost hate to transplant them to the garden. I didnt know there were so many different kinds. Need to start seed swapping again :-) Great article!

These are the last of the blooms..

I love penstemon. You have given me some new ones to look for. I will HAVE to have that white one, so beautiful. Here on the S. oregon coast, if they are dead headed, they will bloom into December. Great article, I learned a lot about one of my favorite garden plants.

I am looking at this post several months later, but FYI wanted to note that the scarlet flowers in "jadajoy"s picture are Salvia, not Pentstemon. Also the Shrubby penstemon picture in the article is P. fruiticosus, not P. davidsonii.
