I love your cross section wind-chime, it's aesthetically pleasing but not 'cute' and makes a harmonious sound (important to me). Can I ask where you got that piece as I've never seen one like it before.
If you get rain in your part of the world, Woodstock make rain-bells - several bell domes are inverted on flexible wire and inserted into a fake rock. The bells are placed in the garden and make a sound when raindrops strike them. They are also rather zen and elegant to look at. This item is often available at the online Amazon store. I would get one... but I live in the desert... not much rain... but lots of wind.
Yes, I have seen those, but we have more vertical hanging space than we have horizontal displaying space. (We do get plenty of rain!)
I will have to ask my DD#1 before she escapes to college at the end of the month about that pipe wind chime. When I was studying the picture of it, I concluded that it made no noise at all - no clapper, no wind sail, etc. Then my kids dragged me outside and demonstrated and I realized the obvious: the chimes could, themselves, be the clapper and the weight. But she is the one who bought it and it is probably untraceable! I'll double check with her.
I asked DD#1, who got those chimes for my husband a few years ago, where she got them, and her best recollection is "an itty-bitty gift store somewhere, or maybe a craft fair." Sometimes it's hard to believe she's going away to college in a week. But that's all the information my vague young daughter has for you. She also said maybe you could make them. (?)
I added a link where someone talks about a chime she likes the looks of - there are SO many out there. Also, do check the other threads after the article - there are many interesting ideas and lots of cool links! Good luck - I'm sure you'll find something you like.
I'm sorry to report that after several years outside in the wind and the rain and the snow, that particular wind chime has disintegrated! I hope you found one you like. BTW, my daughter now lives in Arizona too!
