I've got a recently planted Kangaroo Paw whose flowers have turned from bright orange to a dull almost dead brown. Is this normal? Are the flowers done? Do I need to deadhead?
any help is welcomed!

Can you post a picture? As long as the leaves look healthy I wouldn't worry too much though. The flowers do look kind of ugly as they fade, and they may have faded faster than they normally would have if you just planted them--plants will often decide to forget about flowers and focus on their roots right after they're transplanted. When they're done blooming, I usually cut the stalk back to the base although in your case if the plant is putting energy into its roots now, it may not bloom again for a while no matter what you do.

That's typical for KP's...just remove the stem and they'll bloom again next year.
