I'm seriously considering buying the Mohawk SmartStrand with DuPone Sorona fiber carpeting.

We have two dogs and two 13 year olds. I'm thinking this would be great carpet for its built in stain resistance (even though they don't warantee pet stains) that won't ever wash out no matter how many times the carpet is cleaned. I'd love to know if anyone else has this carpet and how they like it?

Also I am thinking of the frieze - a dense. good frieze since I don't like vacuum marks. I read the other post about friezes and that kind of scares me. I can't have Berber because the dogs nails get caught too easy. A cut pile is best whether it's a frieze or not. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have SmartStrand with Sorona in my house (love it!)...and they did add pet stains to the warranty. Be sure to go with the moisture proof pad to protect the subfloor from accidents too.

If you hate vacuum marks go with a regular texture. You'll see them on friezes 90% of the time. Make sure there is a good amount of twist in the yarn. 4.5 or more is best.

Thanks for the reply carpetgirl, although I didn't see it until today! I did purchase the SmartStrand in the frieze. I do love it and just vacuum in rows to make it look nice and fluffy. I also got the moisture proof padding. I did have a problem getting the dye lot of the color I purchased, in fact it was a plain nightmare. I chose a weak iced tea shade with gray/black flecks in it and received corn meal yellow with flecks! Mohawk had to keep sending me new samples direct off their bolts. I had to select a completely different color than I originally chose but in the end am very happy with the color. It just delayed the install for over a month because much of it fell within the Christmas/New Years holidays. THAT, was bad. But Mohawk was very accomodating and tried to make me happy and in the end did.
