As I child my step mother, who was Cajun, would boil okra. All six of us kids would nearly fight over it. Now as an adult, I love to grow okra. My husband thinks it is just as great as asparagus. I steam okra just until it is fork tender. I have a Akita and a Cairn terrior who loves okra and the juice off of it. Okra is a wonderful vegetable fried in corn meal or steamed.
