I need some design help! I am about to start ripping out all of my lawn in the front yard. I plan on flipping over the sod and making berms with it. Right now I have a small berm in the "hell strip" between the sidewalk and road. My theme for planting will be drought tolerant/fragrant and bee/butterfly attracting plants. I could use suggestions on where to plant my "bones". For example I have a 10ft mountain hemlock that I need to place somewhere!
What I really NEED though is berm design/placement ideas. I don't have a style type that I lean heavily on. I do stay away from geometric/formal though. To give you an idea of size the lawn area is about 18ft x 50ft. And it receives full sun almost all day. I need help! I will post a few more pictures to give a better 3D example.
