I have a step son that stays over at least every weekend and in summer more often. My problem is his room is downstairs from ours and there is a family room with a television. I will go down and shut the tv off at night and have caught him with the tv on in the middle of the night and he is sleeping. It is pretty much every time I have gotten up in the middle of the night. So I was looking into a control for the tv that would just make it shut down between certain hours. I can only find devices that have set amount of hours allowed but this will not work for our situation. The only other option I've found is a manual plug lock which is not something I want to do. I want something on a timer I can set so the tv just does not turn on after say 11pm and will not turn on before around 6am. Does anyone know of any devices like this? This tv doesn't have a cable box so I can't use the parental controls offered by cable companies. This not only bothers me because of what he would be viewing this late at night but also because it is such a waste of electricity for him to sleep all night with a tv on. I have been threatening to take the cable out at night but it is such a hassle for me to have to do that every night and put it back on every morning and it makes me feel like a wicked step mom. Plus he'd probably just put on a dvd so I'd have to take that off too! Thanks for any help.
