Hello everybody, I am a landscape gardener apprentice, and my teacher today gave me a twig to find out. Not that it is a part of our syllabus, but because he knows I'm stubborn and want to find out. I have enclosed a picture of it.
My guess is that it is a Syringa reflexa or perhaps Syringa prestoniae, although the latter is not (I think) quite big enough.
The leaves (most of them) are about 13 cm long, and the woman who owns it says the plant is around 2 m high.
It would be lovely if anybody could help me.
Love, Bodil
The leaves look much more like those on Syringa prestoniae. Syringa reflexa has a different leaf shape, veination and lighter green color. I am not familiar with the species of Syringa so it could very well be a species different from the two you mentioned.
Thanks a lot LariAnn, I think you helped me. After posting I went through some other books and came to the same conclusion - wonderful to be confirmed!
