| I've always been a nature person, and I love trees. My dream job would be to own a tree farm...but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon...so I decided to put trees on my beads. I hope you like them.
I use glass stringers to put the landscapes and trees on the beads. I do-not paint my beads.
This was my first "tree" bead, it's about an inch tall.

This is one of my favorites.
"Antique Oak"
Standing tall with few branches,
the oak holds it's place amongst the other trees.

| WOW Bstodd! Those are fabulous!
I worked as the bookkeeper for the husband of a lady that did lampwork on beads. I was always fascinated to watch her. Her bead shop was in the same building I worked in. She (and her husband eventually) was a total jerk :/ , but I must say that she did put out some incredible beads. I started working for her husband to support my bead "habit"!
I've always wanted to make them myself, but don't have the equipment and can't justify (to myself) spending the money on them.
Thank you for sharing your incredible talent and I hope you'll share more of your beautiful creations.

| I had the bead compulsion about four years, went wholehog and then fizzled out when there was no market for what I was stringing.
I took a class in lampwork bead making three years ago and loved it.
I'll try to find some pictures of the beads I made it was fun. |

| I made beaded necklaces to satisfy my lust for beads.
Most of the beads were bought from Fire Mountin but I wanted to see what was going on in FEMO or Polymer clay, so I made some of those too.
I had sold pottery for years and thought all I had to do was to make up a good name for the business and launch myself into a few craft fairs.
Dead in the water is what I call the response to the necklaces and bracelets.
I needed to sell some of the necklaces to pay for the hemmorage in my checking account that went to beads and findings.
It didn't do any good, sales were so few I gave up stringing and making beads, and just admire other peoples work
Here are some examples of the polymere beads. Click the image for an enlarged view.

| When you sell on EBAY do you sell just the bead?
I realize there are people who just collect them and don't wear them.
When you make your beads do you start with a preformed bead or do you lampwork the entire bead? |

| If you want to sell beads/jewelry, you might check out Etsy if you haven't already, it's a site just for handmade arts/crafts. I see tons of beads and jewelry and things for sale on there--I'm sure not everyone sells a lot but the people with the nicer quality things that aren't super expensive seem to have a pretty large number of sales. Probably not something you could make your living doing, but you might at least make enough to cover supplies to make some more! LOL |

| I posted on your other thread by accident and meant to post here- i just love your landscape/tree beads. they are absolutely beautiful!! My twin sister got me into making lampwork beads a couple years ago, She's much more advanced than I am (she sells at craft fairs and on ebay as well). I pretty much just make stuff for presents to give to friends, but still have a lot of fun. This is a ladybug set I made for myself- I think it came out kind of neat!

| beautiful beads... very attractively done. Keep up the awesome work. Maybe you will get that tree farm after all.
I also am a nature person... I feel it influences my work. During an advanced studio class last year I had to come up with something for a ceramic project. The picture below is one of the pieces I came up with. I'd like to do some more sometime and try some different things.
Well, I don't know if this picture will come through or not. I tried to preview and it never would let me. Maybe I'll try again another time to upload picture. Click the image for an enlarged view.

| bstodd, I am new to the artisan forum, so I just now found this thread. What are glass stringers and how are they applied? Is there a link somewhere explaining this? How fascinating and beautiful! I must know more! LOL
Ok update. I found many sites telling how to make the beads. What I want to know is how you put your trees on and it's not paint! Wow, so impressive! I assume you have to melt glass to make the trees? Sorry, so many questions. I am just fascinated but know nothing about it.
Thanks!
