We are in humid N Florida, It has rained here everyday for at least 3 months now. This is not unusual for summer in this area. I've been considering what material to build my raised beds from that would be fairly inexpensive and last. Landscape timbers leach toxins, untreated wood rots, concrete blocks seemed to be the answer. Then last night in bed (of course) the papercrete thread in the container section popped into my mind. Why not just build the sides of the beds of papercrete? Lightweight, inexpensive, and durable. Are there any cons to this idea? What are your thoughts?

I'm thinking I could build a wood frame 4'x 8' and a second 3 1/2' x 7 1/2 ' inside the first and pour the papercrete between the two right in place where the bed will be. Then after it sets move the form to the next spot and pour another bed frame. This would make the walls 3" thick.

thanks in advance,
doegirl
