if I was wading a river and the land on each side was private property would it be okay for me to fish as long as I stayed in the river or could they still run me off
In our state we get a fishing or a hunting brochure with all the rules in it. Do you have anything like that? It should have the answer there. Or is there a Q and A section on your state DNR site?
In Michigan you are allowed to walk on the shore along a river, but not onto the land, when fishing. We frequently see wader foot tracks walking along our trail by the river, (about 5 or 6 feet inland) they seem to use it to get around a deep spot in the river.
Check your state laws!! In Texas Waders and fishermen may use the banks of any navigable stream up to the first cut bank. If a small boat can float a person downstream it will usually be called navigable.
