I realize this ought to go in a different article, but you keep making me want a Parlor Palm in the worst way, plus there's my dracaena (is that a palm?). When they're outside during the summer, they're happy. (They end up in the shade, because they start to get scorched the first day, and they never get re-relocated.) When they're inside, they're neglected, dehydrated, and every other bad thing. Should I get one of those long sink hoses?

I see a Dracaena and a Beaucarnea in the photo. The first one should probably get watered regularly. the latter can get watered regularly if it's hot and sunny, but otherwise needs little water.

Neither are even remotely related to palms, by the way

LOL I didn't think so - the photo was to prove that I can in fact keep a house plant alive for more than just a summer! The parlor palm is what I really wish to acquire, but last time we had one I think we forgot to bring it in soon enough and J. Frost did away with it.

Well, if you don't mind starting with a small one, most Home Depots or Lowes have little ones for about $2 each
