I live in southeastern Oklahoma and grow Lemon Cukes and almost every year I have some vines that mutate and Fleciate ..I did some research with the local ext.service agent who but me in contact with Dr.Angela Davis who was able to tell me that this is a common fault of the lemon variety due to a resessive gene ..Dr.Davis is at the USDA experimental station at Lane Ok. which is located between Antlers and Atoka Ok. not too far away from Texas..hope the pic shows what I am writing about I have more pics of this plant

Howdy Grits!

Yes, I've seen this before on a Lemon Cuke plant too - a really odd looking occurrence. We were growing them in our Community Garden last year or year before and it happened on one plant. That's interesting info about the gene!

This is nothing to do with the Lemon Cukes but rather a great big THANK YOU for turning me on to the Zephyr squash> I read your article and promtly ordered some seed from Johnny's Selected seeds and could not be any happier with this fine plant..Great taste, fine texture, and it seems to keep bearing long after my Zukes are dead and pulled up...
