Thank you so much for compiling a list of host plants. We all need help knowing how to help the butterflies and moths. This year has been especially good with more butterflies and moths than I have ever seen. I've had some really unusual and beautiful moths. It has been very wet and weeds as well as flowers have florished. I recommend letting phlox go to seed. The butterflies, bees and moths love them. I planted quite a few orn. cabbages & kale this spring. They have been riddled all summer but now that the caterapillars have become butterflies, they have begun to recoup in time for the fall showing.
I've attached a picture taken this week of a Giant Swallowtail - rather rare in my yard. I understand they are considered a pest in Calif. where they bother the citrus crop.
I agree with the phlox comment. It is the most popular nectar plant in my garden with the butterflies and I'm increasing it for next year. Yours still looks so good (mine is almost done). I had quite a bit of honeybee activity on the sunflowers and asclepias tuberosa. Now of course it is the sedum that everyone loves.
Nice Giant Swallowtail. They are really a treat to see for us. I had a few this year as well!
