I purchased both of these plants as the 'super white' form of Serenoa repens with some understanding that they get whiter with age. This is a genus which is not grown often in California because it is so super slow, yet considered common, so i dont' have a lot of experience with it. Both these plants are about 10 years old (and barely 12" tall). They were greener when smaller, but not looking too white to me. 5-6 years ago I was told the same 'story' about Chamaerops var. cerifera- that it turned whiter with age. I since have learned that is NOT true and even 2-3 leaf seedlings are distinctly white-blue. Maybe this is true with this form of Serenoa too, but have no idea since I have never seen a white form grown in California. Anyone on the east coast know?
